Designed by the legendary Laurie Davidson, the Davidson 34 boasts an exceptional reputation for its excellent sailing performance making it a popular cruiser/racer. This vessel was the last one build of the design, and had many high level racing wins over its life including winning the Sydney to Mooloolaba race, and the prestigious 'Cock of Bay' in Melbourne in 1997 and 1998. The vessel then underwent a major 8 year refit concluding in 2009 which including major refurbishment of the rig to modernise it with swept back spreaders and remove the running back stays, all new standing rigging, extensive new electronics, complete rewire of the electrical systems, engine rebuild, the list goes on! The current owner has continued to improve the vessel and left no stone unturned to improve the vessels performance and also set it up to be easily managed single handed. Under the current ownership the vessel has returned to its winning ways being the Club Champion at Port Dalrymple Yacht Club, and winning many local events in Northern Tasmania. With its gleaming blue hull it is also a real head turner where ever it goes!
Stepping inside, the vessel is well set up for comfortable cruising. The accommodation is ideal for both a family, or the race crew, and features a large double V Berth forward and 2 single quarter berths aft. The L shaped galley is to starboard and is well equipped for extended stays onboard including a NEW 2016 2 burner metho stove, stainless steel sink and pressurised water. Opposite is a true chart table which will please the most discerning yachtsman. This area is well equipped with excellent electronics including NEW 2020 VHF Radio with DSC and cockpit hand set, and modern switchboard. The package is complete with private bathroom with an electric toilet and vanity.
On deck, the vessel is very well set up with a central pod complete with extensive electronics including Raymarine Chart plotter, Radar, and Wind/speed/depth displays. There is also a NEW 2018 Raymarine Autopilot complete with remote control, which makes sailing the vessel single handed a breeze! The vessel transitions seamlessly from a fully crewed competitive racer, to a shorthanded cruiser with the headsail furler being used when required, and all lines lead back to the cockpit for easy sail handling.
The vessel is powered by a 18HP Volvo Penta Diesel Engine which was fully rebuilt in 2009. This provides easy cruising at 5 to 6 knots.
