Discovery 50 | Into the Mystic

Designed by the renowned Bill Dixon and with an interior styled by superyacht specialist Ken Freivokh, the Discovery 50 Cat is the first multihull from this highly respected British yard which has gained an enviable reputation for its 55 and 67-foot ocean-going monohulls. She was built for the owner of the shipyard.

Dixon Yacht Design has produced a really stylish yacht in Into the Mystic, featuring a very fine bow, sweeping deck profile and striking windows that combine to exude an elegant, unique and sleek profile. The hull configuration has been developed to ensure a comfortable sea motion and rapid passage making capability.

The Discovery 50 Cat follows the concept of the company's other yachts, developed for effortless sailing by just two people with complete safety and comfort. The deck layout is designed for easy handing for two, while the forward facing navigation seat in the main saloon allows an all-round view for passage watches from below. The Discovery 50 Cat is capable of cruising the world's oceans in total luxury, certified to the European Recreational Craft Directive Category A (Ocean).

The mainsail includes electric in-mast reefing with the option of a fully battened slab-reefed main. The foresail configuration offers jib, genoa, code zero and asymmetric options. All major winches are electrically operated, there are two manual winches at the mast for flying the Parasailor and two manual winches on the transom for trimming. The yacht can be sailed, reefed and sails stowed without helm or crew leaving the cockpit - important for shorthanded cruising.

Originally named, Discovery Magic, she was built for the owner of Discovery Yachts for his retirement. She won the Boat of the Year award in 2011. The first owner, having thoroughly researched the international multihull market, decided the Discovery 50 best met his criteria of the most capable and comfortable blue-water cruising catamaran.

Into the Mystic was extensively refitted and upgraded in 2013 by Discovery Yachts before being on-sold to the second owner. She has been upgraded, maintained and equipped without compromise for a planned circumnavigation commencing 2014 and, in the process, was essentially "zero-houred" back to "as new". Many of these upgrades have formed the basis for the current production Bluewater 50 Cat. Due to an unexpected and tragic change in personal circumstances, the planned circumnavigation never took place and consequently the voyage of a lifetime was cancelled. Into the Mystic has only been lightly cruised both in the Western Med and French Atlantic coast before being sold to her current owner in 2019.

In recent years she has undergone further upgrades along with consistent annual maintenance. Into the Mystic has undergone a further significant refit in 2021 prior to commencing her Atlantic Crossing.

This stunning yacht is a beautiful home afloat, providing world-class cruising on the flat.
