A well-prepared bluewater catamaran, designed and set up for extended offshore cruising.
Designed by Tony Grainger and built by Hart Marine in Mornington, Safiri is a 50ft sailing catamaran launched in 2012. She was custom built with a focus on offshore cruising, incorporating a range of practical modifications that improve comfort, storage, and ease of use.
Recently returned from an extensive four-year Pacific voyage, Safiri has proven herself across a wide range of conditions, completing two circuits of the South Pacific including Tasmania, New Zealand, Tonga, French Polynesia, Fiji, and Vanuatu. Her performance, reliability, and seakeeping have been consistently demonstrated on long offshore passages.
Built to a high standard with a strong, lightweight structure, she offers an impressive balance of performance and volume. At approximately 8,500kg lightship, she maintains excellent sailing performance even when fully provisioned, supported by her long waterline, wide beam and high bridgedeck clearance. The inclusion of mini keels provides shallow water access and the ability to dry out, all while retaining strong upwind capability without the complexity of daggerboards.
The layout has been carefully designed for comfort when extended cruising. The saloon and galley form one open, connected space, creating a highly functional and social environment rarely seen in this style of configuration. Finished in Tasmanian Myrtle timber, the interior is warm, bright, and exceptionally liveable, with excellent headroom, insulation, and ventilation throughout. Accommodation includes two king cabins and two doubles, along with a generous bathroom featuring a separate shower.
On deck, Safiri is set up for short-handed or single-handed sailing, with electric winches, an efficient sail handling system, and a well laid-out deck plan. She has been comfortably managed solo on multi-day passages, highlighting her practicality as a true cruising platform.
She has also benefited from a comprehensive recent refit, with significant upgrades to her electrical and onboard systems. Highlights include an 840Ah lithium battery bank, 1,780W solar array, Starlink connectivity, 120L/hr watermaker, upgraded windlass, and new electronics including a 16" B&G display with integrated autopilot control. Her sail inventory has also been updated, ensuring she is ready to perform.
Included in the package is a custom 3.8m aluminium tender with Beachmaster wheels, and a 25hp Yamaha outboard, further enhancing her capability for remote cruising.
Well maintained by her original owner and recently refreshed for continued voyaging, Safiri presents as a proven, capable, and highly considered bluewater catamaran. She is fully equipped and ready to depart on her next adventure without compromise.
