Griffin Crown 30

Superbly presented 30ft Griffin Brothers Timber yacht from 1960.
In May 2019 a refurb was carried out. Nimmitabel was professionally glassed on the hull after the paint was stripped off, seams filled, planks repaired/replaced and the whole hull glassed. The deck was removed and replaced with a new one of 9mm ply. A new teak toe rail and teak rubbing strip installed. Nimmitabel was sprayed with a 2-pack paint "snow white"
The result is a very dry, handsome and sturdy boat with a new lease on life.
In June 2024, I sailed Nimmitabel from Brisbane, to the Whitsundays, via Lady Musgrave and then returning to Sydney in October, Single handed except for about 10 days shared with friends.
She is well set up for offshore sailing, with a boat EPIRB, a personal EPIRB on inflatable lifejacket, an AIS transponder, so you can both see ships and can be seen, as well as track the boat online so friends and family can follow your progress. There is a Ocean Safety 4 man liferaft in survey until August 2026. A robust autopilot lets you relax between watch lookouts.

The mainsail is brand new (Ulman sails Airlie August 2024) and the Ulman Genoa is in very good condition. An Ulman boom bag with lazy jacks makes dropping the main easy.
The dodger and clears are in very good condition. Self tailing harken winches.
Much of the running rigging is new, the rest is in good condition.
I've only had the chance to race her once in my club Twilight, but she managed third place on her first try.
