GRIFFIN CROWN  

Nimmitable is the sort of small cruiser people lust after, a pretty carvel planked sloop; a lovely head-turner with loads of character.
We are not precisely sure of her age, but she was built by the Griffin family; father John with brothers Harold and Joe at their Church Point NSW boat shed between 1960 and 1962.
She entered and completed the 1978 Sydney to Hobart skippered by her owner, music teacher Rory Thomas and his amateur crew of music students up against legendary yachts like, Apollo (also built by Griffin Bros).
She has, for the past 33 years been sailed extensively by her current owner and in 2014 he committed to doing a complete refurbishment. Her exterior now proudly presents the results of that labour. Her timber hull is now sheathed in a layer of fibreglass and as such her bilge is bone dry, her decks repainted, timbers sanded and varnished, stanchions and lifelines, standing and running rigging all in superb condition and to top it off a new Nanni 14hp diesel. Unfortunately shortly after the completion of this work Nimmitable's owner took ill and has not recovered. So, whilst the big ticket items have all been completed, the interior now needs attention - as is obvious in the photographs. The good news is that this is within the abilities of most handy persons and is not going to cost an arm and a leg.
