This classic dual-helm Tasmanian Huon pine motor sailer is for sale. Built by the famous Cygnet shipwright Noel Wilson in 1974 for his personal use, Iolanthe2 is a comfortable, sound and well-maintained vessel ideal for exploring Tasmania's beautiful cruising grounds. She has been extensively refitted over the last four years, including a new deck and a refurbished mast and engine. She chugs along at 6 knots and sails well with the wind aft, as you can see in the video. Iolanthe2 is not a production boat - she is a custom-built piece of Tasmanian sailing history, still sailing, still full of charm and character and has appeared twice in the Australian Wooden Boat Festival.
She has a safe, deep cockpit, ideal for sundowners in an isoalated bay or for dinner in the marina. New Simrad GPS and depth sounder, autohelm, remote windlass operation, new anchor, new lots of things that we can discuss when you come and have a look at this beautiful boat. But the main thing is, she is dry and sound and a safe boat to get around in, (she has circumnavigated Tassmania) with a big strong engine that starts first time (serviced March 2025) and great visibilty from the inside helm where you can escape the elements on your way back to your berth.
Stainless steel davits and a pushpit and radar tower are available with the boat, as well as a rubber dinghy and outboard.
