The Sun Odyssey 29.2 was a hugely popular model in the Jeanneau line up. The first hull was built in 1997 and the design was so well received by sailors the world over that they continued to produce it until the last hull was laid up 2008. Over that period a staggering 832 hulls were built.
The 29.2 is a very easy yacht to sail. With all running rigging leading aft to the cockpit, it can easily be handled by a couple or single handed. The cockpit has a simple and clean layout and features a huge amount of storage in the large starboard locker.
One of the standout features of this design is the shallow draft of only 1.4m. This makes the 29.2 perfect for shallow anchorages like Parker Point at Rottnest, the canals at Mandurah and Geographe Bay. 'Veronique' also has an excellent mast lowering setup with twin poles and a car that slides up the mast track. The mast lowering setup combined with the shallow draft would make her an excellent choice for someone looking for a yacht to race and cruise from one of the Swan River clubs.
Down below there is a surprising amount of room for a yacht of this size. The layout has been well thought out and is clean, simple and functional. There is an abundance of natural light and Jeanneau has incorporated a generous amount of timber work that gives the interior an inviting, warm cozy feeling.
Accommodation is well catered for with a double forward cabin, double aft cabin, and two single berths in the saloon. The bathroom is spacious and features an upgraded top of the range electric toilet.
The galley features a two burner ENO gas stove, plenty of storage and a 12v top loading refrigerator. There a Magma gas BBQ on the pushpit. All the necessities are there to cook up a small storm.
Veronique has been well maintained by her current owner and recent upgrades and maintenance in 2023 include, new Garmin wind instrument and mast head transducer, some of the running rigging replaced, new rope bags. New antifoul, hull and deck polish completed August 2023. Engine serviced by the owner March 2023 including a new water pump, sea cock, new dripless shaft seal, and annodes replaced.
