Remarks
In its current state, the vessel is best viewed as a sound structural platform requiring refit attention before
extended cruising. Once the identified items are addressed, Windjewel has the potential to return to reliable
service as a capable blue-water cruiser.
Surveyor Recommendations
Priority Maintenance
o Replace seized seawater-pump impeller and verify full raw-water circulation on restart; inspect heat
exchangers, strainers, and hoses while running.
o Inspect and remediate softness in the port-side deck; re-core and reseal deck hardware as required.
o Replace corroded keel-bolt nuts and washers; confirm torque and thread integrity during haul-out.
o Conduct full rigging inspection and tension verification by certified rigger; replace standing rigging if age
cannot be confirmed.
o Overhaul electrical system: test and reconfigure solar controllers, replace faulty 600 W inverter and 4000 W
inverter, and install a marine-grade multi-stage charger.
o Replace aged canvas, dodger, and clears to restore weather protection.
o Recharge and load-test all batteries; replace any that fail to hold charge.
o Service or replace deployed inflatable lifejacket cylinders and replace expired flare packs to maintain
compliance.
o Restore operation of navigation lights and horn to meet COLREGS requirements.
o Recommission the anchor-windlass system: reinstall wiring, test motor and foot switches before use.
Routine Maintenance
o Replace worn teak on swim platform and refinish cockpit and side-deck teak where serviceable.
o Clean, wire-brush, and re-coat engine mounts; check alignment during next service.
o Polish and reseal topsides and waterline stripes to improve presentation.
o Clean and re-flowcoat exposed bilge areas to protect laminate.
o Replace brass engine-room seacocks with composite or DZR bronze alternatives.
o Renew upholstery, linings, and floor varnish to restore interior finish.
o Perform full LED lighting upgrade and label all electrical circuits.
o Service Lewmar winches and lubricate running rigging hardware.
o Inspect bonding continuity and verify electrolysis blocker operation.
o Continue regular antifoul renewal and anode replacement on a 12-18 month cycle.
o Verify engine operation, oil pressure, and cooling temperature under load once recommissioned
