Built in Tasmania in 1960 to a very high standard, this Jock Muir designed 40ft Motorsailor presents an excellent opportunity to enjoy cruising in comfort. The hull of the vessel shares the same lines as the legendary "Westward" which won the Sydney to Hobart Yacht races in 1947 and 1948 but with the added bonus of the full pilothouse giving complete protection, and 50HP Gardener Diesel Engine offering economical cruising. This vessel has been under the same ownership for approximately 20 years and has been a much loved family vessel cruised around the stunning Tasmanian waters. It presents in good condition throughout with excellent amenities for extended stays onboard. It is also an ideal liveaboard vessel.
Stepping inside, the vessel has a light and airy saloon with excellent visibility. The quality timber trims and cabinetry have been completed to a high standard giving the vessel a classic ambience. The dinette is to port and has excellent seating for 6 in comfort on the neatly upholstered settees. Opposite is the L shaped galley. The is well equipped with a large domestic upright fridge, 4 burner stove with oven, stainless steel sink with hot and cold pressurised water, and excellent storage. Forward is the traditional helm station. This is beautifully appointed with a stunning timber wheel, and modern electronics including a B&G Chart plotter. Just a couple of easy steps down is the accommodation which also doubles as a second seating or entertaining area. Here there is a generous double berth to starboard with a king single opposite. Forward is a queen sized berth. The package is complete with a private bathroom with electric toilet and shower, and separate vanity.
On deck, the vessel is well set up to be easily managed short handed. Sail handling is a breeze with the furling headsail and mainsail in a boom bag with lazy jacks. The wide side decks give safe and easy access forward, and there is an electric anchor winch on the bow with both foot switches and controls at the helm station.
This vessel is powered by a 50HP Gardener Diesel engine. These boast an exceptional reputation for their economical performance, reliability, and longevity. This engine provides an easy 6.5 knots at only 1100RPM using only 1.5L per hour!
