Nautitech 40 Open

AKUNA is an exceptionally well-prepared 2014 Nautitech Open 40 now for sale with YOTI. AKUNA has been extensively upgraded to create a fast, capable and highly self-sufficient bluewater cruising catamaran. Having recently completed a significant refit and equipped for serious offshore passage making, she presents incredibly well as a result of very capable and experienced owners.

Designed by renowned naval architect Marc Lombard, the Nautitech Open 40 is celebrated for combining sailing performance with practical liveaboard comfort. Twin aft helm stations provide outstanding visibility and direct sailing feedback, while the open-plan cockpit and saloon allow large dining and entertaining spaces.

Over the past two years, AKUNA has benefited from substantial upgrades. Her entire electrical system was modernised in 2024 with a 12kWh lithium battery bank, 1800W of bifacial solar, a complete Victron energy management system with Cerbo GX, delivering exceptional off-grid capability. A 120L/hr Ocean Spring DC watermaker, upgraded refrigeration, induction galley, espresso machine and numerous cruising conveniences make extended time away from marinas both comfortable and practical.

Her sailing inventory is equally impressive. New running rigging, a fully battened mainsail, Hydranet overlapping genoa, Facnor furler, Raymarine navigation suite, AIS, Starlink connectivity and a comprehensive downwind sail inventory ensure she is equally suited to coastal cruising or serious ocean passages.

Powered by twin 29hp Yanmar diesels, both serviced in July 2026, AKUNA also features a 4kW inverter generator, new steering cables and rudder bearings (2025), new cockpit enclosure, upgraded windlass, Highfield tender with Mercury 20hp outboard and extensive safety equipment meeting ARC 2025 offshore requirements.

Accommodation is provided in the popular four-cabin, two-bathroom layout, offering generous space for family cruising or hosting guests or family cruising.

Currently located in Fiji, AKUNA is sailing to Australia and will be available for inspection at The Boat Works, Gold Coast from 1 September 2026.

For buyers seeking a proven performance cruising catamaran that has already received the upgrades most owners eventually undertake, AKUNA represents an outstanding opportunity. She is ready to step aboard and head offshore immediately.
