Description: Passport 42 - Price Reduced 20% - Classic Blue Water Yacht
Owners motivated to sell after 6 years ownership and significant improvements - due to intended move interstate

A rare find encapsulating many beautiful classic features - coupled with significant improvements, very difficult to cover them all... But here goes:

Designed by Stan Huntingford and built in the Dragon shipyard, Taiwan for Passport Yachts: 'SV Brahminy Too' is a beautifully conceived cruising vessel, well suited for live aboard, extended coastal or long distance blue water international cruising. Her interior is magnificently constructed with generous use of solid teak. Her living spaces feel much larger than her 42 feet while maintaining good storage spaces above and below decks. Two private staterooms with an additional quarterberth and convertible dinette will sleep seven. Headroom is 6'6" (2.1 meters) high throughout.

Passport Yachts was recognized as one of the best of the Taiwan boatbuilders of the 1980s, offering exceptional designs from Robert Perry and Stan Huntingford. Although not quite as successful in sales as the very popular Passport 40, the Passport 42 by Huntingford may have been the very best overall cruising design of that era. Interior volume is very generous, and appointments are rich and typical of Taiwanese construction, although executed to a higher standard by Passport Yachts.

SV Brahminy Too is designed with comfortable, functional short-handed sailing in mind. The moderate displacement, with cut-aways fore and aft, internal lead ballast and full cutter sailplan provide comfort and safety in a seaway, along with great sailing performance and maneuverability. The hull was heavily constructed for stiffness and thermal and sound insulation. Boasting gorgeous Burmese tongue and groove teak throughout, solid bevelled teak cabin doors with louvers, heavy teak grab rails and solid teak companionway stairs provide strong safety features when moving around whilst underway. Cabin top sides are white laminate and her headliner panels are covered in soft cream faux leather material and held in place with teak battens. Opening ports, hatches and dorade vents provide good ventilation, a 240v air-conditioner provides additional air movement and can chill the interior to a pleasant 22 degree Celsius during hot tropical weather. Storage is abundant with lockers and cabinets throughout including generous storage under the flooring panels - many with louvered fronts to provide essential storage ventilation when in humid environments. Her arrangement will sleep five in two private cabins and a single quarter-berth. There is an option to convert two saloon dinette settees into sea berths including one with very secure lee cloth when underway - total sleeping capacity for 7 adults.

Beginning forward, the solid teak privacy door separates the forward cabin from the saloon, perfect for guests' privacy. Immediately to starboard is a large hanging locker with a louvered teak door to provide ventilation. Just forward is a built in dressing seat with cushions and a small shelf forward. The hull is lined with teak tongue and groove and three shelves on both port and starboard sides for clothing storage. At the very forward end of the bunk is access to the anchor locker. On the overhead is a single LED dome light. The twin V-berth bunk has a single 4" thick cushion and plentiful storage below. A single brass reading light is on the aft bulkhead above the bunk. The cabin fan keeps air circulating for comfortable sleeping conditions.

Located on the port side just aft of the forward stateroom is the head and shower compartment. The head features a white Formica vanity, a single large vanity cabinet above the stainless vanity sink and a locker under vanity cabinet with solid teak door. A teak trim mirror is above the forward facing Lavac manual head (recently serviced 2024), and a teak grate covers the sole. There is a large separate shower stall forward with a moulded in seat and shower pan (capable of serving as a protective seated bath for children). The handheld shower head is within reach when seated and above are two bronze opening ports for ventilation. The new (2023) head dischare holding tank is located behind the shower seat outboard along the hull.

The comfortable saloon is nicely arranged with a spacious U-shaped dinette to port and a straight settee to starboard. The dinette features a very strong solid wood (teak) table. On the forward port bulkhead is four drawers below a usable countertop with sturdy varnished teak fiddles. Double bookshelves line the hull on both port and starboard sides with a cabinet on either end with teak louvered doors. There is generous storage above, behind, and below the settee and dinette seats. A large overhead hatch offer good airflow and the teak trimmed Lexan windows to both port & starboard deliver light to the cabin.

The forward-facing navigation station is aft and to starboard in the saloon. There is a large table with a lift top storage compartment. Below the seat are two storage drawers. Along the hull is more open storage compartments for guide books or small electronics. The main electrical panel is mounted here as well the new (2023) Victron Control Touch Screen. Behind the seat back is a large hanging wet locker with a drain below into the bilge for foul weather gear.

The large C-shaped galley, opposite the nav station on the port side, features expansive counter space and tremendous amount of storage. The centreline double stainless steel sinks have cold pressurized water pump, and additional storage space under sinks. A gimbaled Breville Air Fryer Oven and Induction Cook top is against the port side galley bulkhead. The Oven space is lined with stainless steel for added safety. Above the stove is one cabinet with sliding louvered teak doors and double height storage for dishware. On the aft end of the galley, are the refrigerator and freezer compartments. The freezer is large with access through two countertop hatches or a door in the lower bulkhead. The fridge is accessible through the countertop hatch and a front opening lower door. In the forward outboard corner of the galley is a large dry storage locker below the countertop. A deck hatch overhead the galley lets out any unwanted cooking fumes and keeps the space well ventilated in conjunction with the companionway which is just aft of the galley.

The companionway is slightly off-centre to starboard to create a nice aft cabin on the port side. The companionway steps into the cabin are wide and sturdy with generous teak hand holds. Behind the two lower steps is additional storage.

Located to port at the base of the companionway is an enclosed aft cabin with a double size berth utilising a memory foam matteress for a very comfortable sleep. There are four drawers below the bunk with more storage under the berth. A shelf runs along the hull the length of the berth for storage. Two bronze portlights with a new (2024) wall mounted fan provides great airflow.

Located to starboard of the companionway, a quarterberth is perfect for ocean passages with easy access to the cockpit - very safe and secure sleeping quarters. There is further ample storage below the berth.

Remarks
Current owners have untaken extensive restoration work sanding, oiling, varnishing, polishing to bring much of this boat back to a well maintained standard reminisent of her glory years. Whilst there is alway something to do, much of the hard work has already been completed. The owners have spared no expense to ensure she is a safe and comfortable yacht capable of taking her new owners across the bay for fun weekends away or around the world.

We have loved owning and restoring this elegant well crafted boat for the past 5 years, have been liveaboard (family of 3) for over a year and we have enjoyed immensely sailing her extensively, including around the Spice Islands of Indonesia, the Tiwi Islands and the Top of Australia.

Her next adventure could be yours.
