Description: Pescott Summersault 11.6
Nowhere Fast is a strong and fast cruiser/racer perfect for cruising between east coast ports and beyond. My partner and I lived aboard for 8 years cruising from the Whitsundays to Tasmania taking advantage of NF's performance in light to moderate (comfortable) conditions to minimise night sailing. With a draft of 0.7m (boards up) NF will anchor on a wet lawn. The big cockpit is great for entertaining. We've had 12 people sitting outside to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks and who tires of lying on the front nets watching dolphins play.

Hulls, decks and bulkheads are strip plank cedar with epoxy and glass. Floor/underwing is foam. Weight is somewhere around 3-3.5 tonnes. The cabin bulkhead was increased in height by 200mm during construction giving more headroom in the saloon without diminishing the beauty of this design. Daggerboards allow for efficient windward progress and manic speeds off the wind although, being conservative cruisers, our top speed to date is 17.5 knots.

The rig was built by David Lambourne and standing rigging (not rigging screws) was replaced last year.

The vessel is easily single-handed by this 70 year old and in recent years I have sailed the boat between the Keppels and Sydney by myself. The tiller steering is finger light although the tillerpilot does most of the work these days.

The boat is currently undergoing a refit with (so far) new standing rigging, new toilet, as-new spinnaker, some new running rigging. New stove, stereo, rigging screws and other stuff still to be fitted. Having said that, the absence of a stove is the only thing stopping someone heading north right now.
