Peterson Islander

"Trade Wind" is a Peterson Islander 42'centre cockpit masthead cutter built in Tasmania in 1989. She is of C-flex hull construction with balsa cored deck and upperworks. Alloy mast and boom with oversize rigging and a removable inner forestay. Navtec hydraulic backstay adjuster and Arco furler on the headfoil. All controls are situated in the cockpit which has an extended canopy to provide shelter with zip- on side and rear covers. There are 6 winches, all situated to hand in the cockpit. . There are two deck lockers situated on the stern, one containing two 4kg gas cylinders and gas regulator, the other spare gas cylinder/BBQ cylinder and fuel drums for the outboard. The pushpit incorporates two small seats, a Magma BBQ and outboard motor stowage.
Below decks there is a standard 3 cabin layout. The aft cabin has a double bed with LED bunk lights, a vanity unit and a large bookshelf. The adjoining shower/toilet incorporates a 120-litre holding tank which has an automatic chemical injection system for waste treatment.
Galley with stove, fridge and freezer and ample bench space located to port and the navigation station to starboard. The central table has two-fold up leaves and the keel stepped mast runs through the middle. The mast is mounted on a galvanized steel matrix which is fibreglassed into the hull, this also incorporates the 25mm. Keel bolts.
The main saloon has three beds, two fixed and one lift up. The fuel and water tanks are located under the bunks. Storage space behind the bunks and full length cupboards above.
Between the main and forward cabin is the laundry with a Sphere washing machine and ample storage. The forward cabin is standard "V" berth layout.
Her last survey was four years ago where she received a clean bill of health. Recently slipped and antifouled using Jotun Seavictor 50 which I have found gives three to four years of service.
This has been our home for quite a number of years now but due to increasing old age and ongoing health problems the cosmetic side of things has fallen behindd so regretfully we must say goodbye to her. She only needs a bit of TLC to bring her back up to her former glory.
