Description: Prout 45 World Cruising Sailing Catamaran
This vessel is Aussie owned and registered.
Prout catamarans (UK) have a history going back 50 years, with a reputation for tough, high quality, popular design and excellent ocean going capability. There were more Prout catamarans circumnavigating the world than any other design at one time.

This is a headsail driven masthead rig, with the mast set well back, just in front of the helm position and all halyards, reef lines returning back to a central S/T manual winch on the main bulkhead. The headsail is a carbon taffeta radial cut sail, improving windward performance significantly.

The fully weather proofed cockpit has an adjustable custom carbon helm seat plus seating for four lucky crew.

The saloon is spacious, yet cosy with seating for six, and in touch with the galley located on a raised mezzanine level in the starboard hull - perfect for those of you wanting a galley up version.
The fully refurbished galley is equipped with excellent refrigeration, heaps of bench space and storage, two burner gas cooktop, twin sinks and eye level contact with your passengers seated in the saloon.

All three queen beds run athwartships, one aft in each hull and one forward of the saloon with a pull down privacy panel.

Extensively refitted in 2013 / 2014 (including New Yanmar 54 hp diesels, New Gen Set (now 650 hrs), New wiring, New electronics, New refrigeration, electric davit system, full size electric toilets, 2 x air conditioning units), Smart TV (2015), Carbon taffeta headsail (2015), Blue Seas Watermaker (2015), 9.8hp Tohatsu (18months old) and lots more.

Remarks
Designed and built to withstand almost anything the ocean throws at her, Vamonos has proven to be a safe, comfortable and exceptionally reliable cruising home for her present owner who cruised her to the Mediterranean from the Gold Coast with limited sailing experience to start with.

Here is an excerpt from his ships log in his words for the passage from Maldives to Seychelles in the Indian ocean.

"Male, Maldives 19th July 2018
After 3 delightful months cruising the Maldives I found myself and the Vamonos languishing in the most southerly atoll of the islands with no crew. My visa was about to expire and there were no extensions available, I had to go.
My options were to head back to Thailand, continue to Chagos alone, as was my original plan, or hop it to the Seychelles, 1100 nm, again alone.
I opted for my first single handed crossing to the Seychelles.
I checked the weather, provisioned the boat and prepared for my greatest challenge.

The plan was to take my 45' Prout catamaran out through the southerly gap in the Hithadhoo atoll and take a WSW course straight to the Seychelles. The trade wind was predicted at 15/20 kts from the ESE and swell about 2m for the next 10 days... Excellent.
Being a headsail driven Cat I had planned for the safe option of just using the jib, given the forecast.
So on the morning of the 19th I headed off.... Straight into 2.5 m swell and 25 kts southerly.
Some anxious moments crossing through the 72m wide passage between the reef, and I was away.
With just the jib I was making 5.5/ 6 kts, quite happy I was, as was the Vamonos, handling the conditions with ease.

By mid afternoon the wind had dropped to 5/10 kts so I decide to hoist the main but leave a reef in as the night was approaching. This combination worked well enough to keep up a 5 knot passage and we settled in for the first night.
I had made a bed in the cockpit so I could keep an eye on the plotter and other instruments, having a large plotter really came into its own as i didn't need to get up to see any shipping.
Through the night one large container ship passed at about 2 miles, not triggering the AIS alarm which was set at 2 miles, other than that no other encounter.
Next day the wind picked up to 17/20 kts and then increased in the evening to 25/30, this routine continued for the next 5/6 days with me making a comfortable 130/140 nm a day. Routine set in and with no major incidence after 8 days I reached the edge of the Seychelles plateau, the shallower water made the last 100 nm quite uncomfortable as the sea churned and turned.
Day 9 and I anchored at Port Victoria very pleased with the boat's performance and much wiser for the experience. "

The bottom has been stripped back to gelcoat because of excessive antifoul build up and a completely new epoxy primer / antifoul system applied Jan 2020.
