Description: S2 35C Center Cockpit Sloop
"Blue Moon" is a spacious cruising sloop with interior accomodation well beyond any vessel her size. Designed by Graham & Schlageter and built in Michigan, USA by S2 Yachts, she is an exceptional cruising vessel for a couple or family, and easily sailed single handed from her safe center cockpit.

Her current ownership has spanned 5 years during which time she has been continuously upgraded and well maintained, especially in preparation for the Pacific crossing to Australia which was completed in 2023. Built of fibreglass in 1987, with a keel stepped mast, she is a proven seaworthy yacht, sailing exclusivly in freshwater lakes in the USA until the current ocean voyage began in 2021. The fin keel and spade rudder design allows her to point higher than the shallow 1.5m draft might suggest. A fast, medium-light displacement hull makes her also qualified for casual racing, as all S2 Yachts were designed for.

"Blue Moon" sleeps 6, with the primary aft-cabin suite having a Full size bed and standing headroom. The V-berth has full headroom and sleeps two, and both settees each make a very comfortable berth. A gimbeled LPG stove/oven, cavernous fridge/freezer, and large wash basin complement the galley's large countertop area.
Fuel storage is 190 litres in 2 tanks and consumption averages just 2 litres per hour at 5 knots. Water storage is 360 litres in 2 tanks. The marine toilet is connected to a holding tank, with optional macerator discharge.

In addition to the recently replaced mainsail (2021) and roller-furling jib (2022), included is an older but functional asymmetrical spinnaker and whisker pole. The standing rigging is only 3 years old having been replaced in 2021, and the hull anti-fouled with 6 coats of Interlux ABC3 ablative over fresh barrier coat in 2022. The decks have been repaired in a few places to replace soft balsa core, but have not been repainted so the repairs do show.

The 28hp Volvo Penta inboard diesel was thoroughly serviced in 2021 including a top end and injectors rebuild and new mounts. This engine has provided 1,400 hours of issue-free service over the past 3 years and is extremely reliable. The cutless bearing was replaced in 2022, and shaft packing was just replaced in April. A 3-blade Flex-o-fold propeller ($2000) was installed to reduce drag under sail and increase thrust and efficiency when motoring. Original 2-blade fixed prop is onboard as a spare

Solar panels provide 560 Watt capacity for the 280 amp-hour LiPo battery bank, making her completely energy independent, including the ability to continuously run the large fridge/freezer. An additional 100ah deep cycle lead acid house bank is also wired for redundancy with it's own 200W solar array, as well as a dedicated engine starting battery. With all systems running on 12v DC, shore power has not been necessary during the entire voyage. For added comfort, a 12v air conditioner unit was installed in the aft cabin in 2022. The vessel does have AC wiring configured as 110v North American standard, which can be powered by the included 2000W portable petrol generator. The primary use for the genset is to power the on board desalinator, which has production capacity of 80L per hour and is used regularly to fill the water tanks. Ground tackle consists of an oversized 20kg Mantus anchor, attached with a swivel to 70 meters of 8mm HT chain. An 800w Lewmar windlass makes anchoring a breeze. Her instrumentation includes a VHF radio, radar, compass, windspeed, depth sounder, boat speed, temp, and a Raymarine helm-driven autopilot which steers her well in light conditions. Navigation was done simply using a tablet with Navionics app.

Also included is the 10ft fiberglass hull inflatable dinghy, which fits nicely on the foredeck for passages, and a 15hp Yamaha 2-stroke outboard.

Blue Moon is currently cruising in the Whitsundays / Airlie Beach region where she can be viewed by appointment. Delivery within Qld may be an option prior to August. She has already undergone formal importation into Australia, and is still American registered with no encumberances or duties owed. She is currently being offered at $68,000 AUD through private party sale. Serious inquiries, please call or text to .
