Salar 40

When released in 1966, Laurent Giles' Salar 40 was probably one of the first boats that gave good performance under sail and power. She was also regarded by many as the definitive blue water cruiser of her generation. Salar 40s were designed to be safe, comfortable, and seaworthy, and to travel long distances - a true round the world yacht.

Freebooter has sailed the entire Australian east-coast several times, twice to New Zealand and once to the Coral Sea. For the past five years she has been based up Tasmania's Huon River before returning to Western Port Bay this year.

With her new rig she is ready for her next adventure.
