Salar 40

This beautifully presented Salar 40 is a superb example of the popular and highly capable Laurent Giles-designed cruising yacht.

Built for true ocean-going passage making, the Salar 40 has earned an excellent reputation among cruising sailors for performance, safety and comfort at sea. The centre-cockpit layout provides exceptional seakeeping qualities and creates two fully separate, private cabins fore and aft, with comfortable berths for six.

"Billie D" has been exceptionally well maintained and tastefully upgraded by her current owners. Her timber brightwork gleams, protected by a comprehensive new suite of canvas covers--including a semi-permanent centre-cockpit cover for comfort and protection offshore.

Cockpit & Deck

The beautifully varnished main cockpit sits within a sheltered pilothouse, complete with windscreens featuring two clear-view deflectors. Navigation equipment is a thoughtful mix of classic and modern: a traditional binnacle compass and barometer complemented by a Seiwa Barracuda GPS/plotter, autopilot, VHF and HF radios.
Under the cockpit seats you'll find ample storage and a eutectic freezer (in addition to the eutectic fridge in the galley). Beneath the cockpit floor sits the well-maintained 80hp Perkins 4236 diesel (1,400 hrs indicated) along with two battery banks -- 12V engine start and 24V house -- all with excellent access.

For fine-weather sailing, a second helm on the aft deck offers superb visibility and features a beautifully varnished wrap-around seat for skipper and crew. The spacious lazarette provides extensive storage--ideal for long-distance cruising. Additional deck gear includes Harken self-tailing sheet winches and a 24V electric anchor winch.

Interior

The main cabin features a longitudinal galley equipped with a eutectic fridge and a brand-new Devanti gas stove/oven. Stunning new solid Silver Ash benchtops and tabletops elevate the space and continue through both refurbished bathrooms. Accommodation includes two single quarter berths and a forward V-berth, all with generous storage. The newly upholstered saloon is warm and inviting, and the main cabin bathroom includes an electric toilet. A charming classic detail is the vertical flat chart storage--a rare and practical feature.

Aft Cabin

Accessed from the centre cockpit, the aft cabin includes two quarter berths separated by a solid timber drawer unit. This private cabin has its own freshly renovated ensuite with hot shower and manual toilet.

Sail Wardrobe

A comprehensive wardrobe of nine sails, including three genoas and a never-used spinnaker, ensures versatility for a wide range of conditions.

"Billie D" represents an outstanding opportunity to step aboard a well-cared-for, ocean-ready classic. With extensive upgrades already completed, she is ready for new owners to fulfill the cruising dream in comfort and safety at a very attractive price.
