After several successful racing seasons, RYUJIN is now offered for sale. Currently based at Southport Yacht Club Marina on the Gold Coast, she presents an outstanding offshore racing platform -- equally suited to fully crewed or short-handed competition. While she has proven highly capable as a double-handed offshore yacht for events such as the Race Around Australia 2028 or Rolex Sydney Hobart campaigns, she is by no means limited to this format. RYUJIN performs exceptionally well fully crewed, with an ideal racing complement of five to six crew, while comfortably accommodating up to ten if required.
Built by Jon Sayer for the 2007 Melbourne-Osaka Race, where she won her division, RYUJIN is a full Carbon/Kevlar, foam-core race yacht with a serious offshore pedigree. Carbon mast, rod-to-rope refit, refined systems, and a sail wardrobe ready to go -- she's fast, tough, and exceptionally well sorted.
In 2012, RYUJIN received a new keel to an updated Jon Sayer design, representing a significant performance refinement. The revised foil is slightly thicker fore-and-aft, greatly enhancing windward capability while retaining the downwind speed Sayer yachts are known for. The keel is approximately 400kg heavier and the draft was reduced from 3.0m to 2.67m, resulting in a more versatile all-round offshore performer with improved upwind efficiency and broader racing usability.
