They say every boat is a compromise - but this may just be the ultimate cruiser/racer blend!
Designed by naval architect Albert Sedlymayer, "Forte" is a 32 foot upscaled product of Sedlymayer's successful Challenge 29 design, and was built in Auckland, 1990.
Forte was designed for performance - bulb keel and high-aspect keel-stepped triple spreader rig with a mast height of 42 feet. She has had much success club racing on Port Phillip Bay before being relocated to the Gippsland Lakes. And yet, step below and you have a lovely, voluminous interior with two private double cabins, a convertible settee, dedicated chart table, separate head and vanity, and a fully equipped galley that would satisfy the fussiest cruising sailor.
Testament to her capability, Forte was sailed from Auckland to Melbourne in 2011.
Forte's performance has been coupled with easy sailing - her rig has swept-back spreaders (additional runners for tuning only), boom bag and lazy jacks for the mainsail and a furling headsail (with other headsails provided also). She is no more difficult to sail than any mass-produced cruising yacht of similar size. And when the adrenaline starts pumping, the sail wardrobe includes 5 spinnakers to choose from!
Forte is an absolute credit to her current owner - she presents in excellent condition, has been beautifully cared for and regularly updated with new levels of equipment, sails and gear. Recent slipping, antifoul and engine servicing means she is absolutely ready for her next owner to enjoy.
Power is by a Volvo Penta diesel 2002 with sail drive and two blade folding prop, just serviced and leg seals recently replaced.
