Could I just start by saying I have done a walk through of Charlotte, external, internal and engine start. This will give you the best idea of how the vessel is... Enjoy. See link below.
Charlotte was one of the last Space Sailer 27s built in NSW ( see builder plate image). Her original owner was from Charlotte North Carolina USA, he monitored the build and owned her for at least 20 years. Note all the fibre glass moldings and solid wood used (No cheap formika on this vessel) they will never build vessels like this anymore.
Before my ownership, Charlotte was lived aboard for 7 years by a young couple saving for a house and children (now they have both). The boat has huge internal volume with a beam nearly 3 metres and is very well setup for live aboard. She has a huge anchor; Smart TV and DVD player, top end electric toilet (fresh water flush, no smells), USB chargers both sides of the main berth and in many locations in the main cabin; new batteries; solar charging; cold shower; a outboard BBQ portable internal gas, no gas certificate needed; huge storage and electrically everything works and is labelled and easy to understand. All water has electric pumps, just turn on the taps and water flows, not hand pumps on this boat. She also has a complete cockpit cover.
I have used Charlotte for the occasional twilight sail and coastal cruising, now at 65 and retired and I am considering going over to the dark side and getting a stink pot. I am 6'2 inches and have head room and plenty of sleeping space up front, the head is huge and very smartly built to make use of all space.
As I wanted to take Charlotte to marina's, she was hauled out and surveyed for insurance and is currently comprensivly insured. See surveyors repoort attached.
A very good feature of this boat is the YANMAR YSE 12 engine, shaft drive, single cylinder; a small 10L fuel tank attached to the top of the engine (5 hours cruising); no fuel filter; oil filer for the life of the engine. Parts are easy to get and is very simple to look after. As the engine is salt water cooled, my mechanic installed a Y valve, so I can flush with Fresh water mixed with vinigar at the end of each cruise, so the engine does not sit around with salt water inside.
This boat has an all lead encapulated keel, no keel bolts and has a clean dry bilge. (see video). This boat does not leak when it rains or at any other time, all through hull fittings and valvues are working and tested.
Charlotte is well worn but fully operational, so she is not shiney; she has paint missing but you will have nothing to polish, varnish. There are a couple of Space sailer 27's that have been polished up but the price is $40K plus.
The boat came with an inflatable dinghy and small outboard. These go with the boat. Please note I have not used them and they are as it. I access the boat from a dinghy that is alongside a marina in Drummoyne. She has two excellent sails (main and jib) that I have been using, plus a genoa 1 genoa 2 and spinacher that are usable.
Rigging is way over specked for a small boat and will last the life of the boat. Age unknown.
A discription below with help from AI. Plenty of information on these boat on line with a large owners group based in WA.
