Description: Sparkman & Stephens S&S39 Built by Prestige Yachts, Bayswater WA
Pachuca is an S&S 39 designed for ocean racing under IOR rules. With her heavy construction by contemporary standards - thick GRP hull, 50 ft keel-stepped mast with a large cross section and thick aluminium walls - she was built to withstand the demands of heavy weather sailing. With her fine entry bow, legendary tumblehome hull, low centre of gravity and solid lead fin keel she is a great upwind boat with few peers for stability. A sister ship also built in 1983 by Prestige Yachts named Galaxy III has been officially certified to have an ORC stability index number of 123.3, significantly exceeding Sailing Australia's minimum requirement of 115.0 for Category 1 offshore racing and placing it in OSR Category 0.(You can see a copy of the certificate selecting the PDF/More Information link above. )

This S&S 39 will be of interest to those looking for a medium size and easily managed boat suitable for any cruising or racing event that a yacht club has to offer as well as a safe and reliable platform for ocean crossings. Pachuca is a proven sea boat that has circumnavigated the world and rounded Cape Horn.

The price of the boat is based on the formal valuation of $160,000 made in March 216 which took no account of the array of spares accompanying. Since then she has been well maintained, with among other things the replacement of her main hatch and anchor windlass, the new Sarca Excel No. 5 anchor, a new Raymaring AIS, and the fitting of a propeller shaft rope cutter.

Included with the sale will a wide range of spares too numerous to mention, including about $1,000 worth of Maxwell winch spares.

Included also will be free use of the boat's pen D81 at the Fremantle Sailing Club for a period of two months to facilitate the re-homing of the boat.

NOTE THAT THE BOAT WAS RE-RIGGED IN APRIL 2024, AFTER THE CURRENT ASKING PRICE WAS SET.
