Swanson 38s were built by Swanson Brothers in NSW to a very high standard, and have well and truly stood the test of time. Salina is a joy to sail, whether on gentle coastal passages, or on a long-range cruise utilising her large water (1000 litres) and fuel (500 litre) tanks. She is well-balanced under sail, and the two furling headsails along with brilliant TMQ auto-pilot make sailing single-handed a breeze. The recent addition of stainless davits makes dinghy transportation simple and safe.
The timber pilot house and fixed bimini give excellent protection from sun and weather making passages comfortable in any conditions. When not on the move, simply unlock the hinged table and enjoy plenty of room relaxing in the covered cockpit with friends.
Salina's current owner is a wooden boatbuilder and furniture maker, and has made this yacht an exceptional example of her breed.
Stepping inside shows a varnished teak fit-out with white deck-head to 185cm. The spacious central living area is well ventilated with overhead opening hatches along with four opening ports in the cabin sides. The galley is well-equipped with a deep eutectic fridge/freezer as well as a small electric fridge. The saloon has comfortable seating for eight, and a large chart/navigation area. There is a private cabin forward which includes a full-length mirror and bathroom with shower. Beyond the navigation area there is also a separate sleeping area aft.
The engine room is spacious, clean, and well-lit with all round access via removable companionway as well as side entry through aft cabin stoop-way. The Yanmar 3QM30H 3 cylinder 30hp diesel engine is known for performance, efficiency and robust marine construction for long life. It delivers consistent torque for steady cruising at 6 knots, and low-end responsiveness which is beneficial for manoeuvring in tight spaces.
Salina was slipped and anti-fouled in August 2025, and has always been very well cared for, and maintained to keep her in top condition.
