A 1982(?) sailboat not being used and a project for someone pepared to do some work, hence the low price.
The boat is moored at Dangar Island on the Hawkesbury River, opposite Brooklyn.
Good points:
A sturdy fibreglass boat that has proved itself by being sailed around the world.
Full length keel.
Keel hung rudder.
Internal lead keel.
A Yamaha 8hp outboard.
Fibreglass interior. The accommodation arrangement includes a separate WC compartment.
5 winches on deck and cocipit coamings.
Anchoring gear.
Headsail furler.
Spinnaker pole.
Boat cushions (interior).
There is a Top Hat Facebook group.
Not So Good Points:
The mast is off the boat needing a minor repair to the spreader base (this was the reason for removing it).
Mast base needs replacement. If I was holding on to the boat I would fit a hinged mast base and rig a mast raising/lowering system.
Windows need to be replaced and/or repaired..
The timber rubbing strake needs to be replaced.
Rigging should be replaced as its age is unknown.
No sails.
No instruments.
Summary. This is a project boat for anyone prepared to put the time in to bring it up to a satisfactory standard. The advantage of doing this work is the new owner will eventually have a much improved boat at a relatively cheap cost ie after new rigging, sails and mast repairs.
The present owners have not used the boat as they have a sailboat overseas which they use extensively.
