Van De Stadt 34

"Work in Progress" was craftsman built in steel by Don Langford, an Adelaide based professional boat builder and engineer. She was built as his own personal yacht for his use and was launched in 1999.

I am only the third owner of the yacht, and she has spent her whole life kept on the dry on a hardstand cradle at the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia (CYCSA). The longest continuous time that she has been in the water has been 8 weeks.

Given her proven Van de Stadt design, offshore capability and 1.5m draft she is a great cruising vessel for Gulf St Vincent, Kangaroo Island and Spencer Gulf, if not further afield.

The yacht has a beautifully handcrafted interior and is very comfortable. Accommodation is provided by two double berths and two settees with lee cloths. There is fantastic storage for the included cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils as well as your drinks and food provisions. There is ample storage including full length hanging closets in the enclosed forward cabin.

The motor is a Perkins Perama 30 HP 3 cylinder diesel which has only done circa 450 hours.

The Hurth transmission was rebuilt in 2023 and smoothly transfers the engine power to the shaft and fixed 3 blade propeller.
