Young 43 This Young 43 is a Roy Davies version

PANEKA - A ONE-OFF YOUNG 43
The name Paneka carries Slavic roots tied to youth and craftsmanship--and never has a name been more perfectly earned.
This 1978 Young 43, drawn by the legendary Jim Young, has been reborn in the hands of a true modern master craftsman: Roy Davies. What now stands before you is not merely a classic yacht preserved--but a timeless design elevated, refined, and perfected.
Roy Davies' workmanship is quite simply next level. His obsession with detail, proportion, and function is evident everywhere you look. Nothing has been done for novelty; every change has been carefully considered to improve handling, comfort, and longevity--while respecting the soul of the Young 43.
The rig has been intelligently reimagined. The mast, once keel-stepped, has been moved aft by 450mm and converted to a deck-stepped configuration, reducing mainsail size and transforming sail handling into a far more manageable, user-friendly experience. The traveller has been relocated out of the cockpit and onto the top of the hard dodger--freeing space, improving safety, and delivering a cleaner, more purposeful cockpit layout.
Helm ergonomics have been enhanced with a larger-diameter steering wheel, allowing more relaxed, confident control--comfortably within reach, exactly where it should be.
A beautifully crafted walk-through transom with a generous boarding platform has been seamlessly integrated, blending modern usability with classic lines--an upgrade that looks as though it was always meant to be there.
Below decks, the transformation continues. From the saloon bulkhead forward, the interior is entirely new--a superbly executed fitout featuring new heads and a warm, inviting forward double berth. This is craftsmanship you don't just see--you feel it. Every surface, joint, and finish speaks of patience, pride, and mastery.
This is not just another Young 43.
Paneka stands alone--a one-off, bespoke interpretation of a New Zealand icon. Superior in execution, elevated in detail, and unmistakably crafted by a builder who understands both tradition and progress.
If youth is the spirit of innovation, and craftsmanship is the discipline of excellence--
Paneka is where they meet.

Unique Walkthrough transom with boarding platform.

Brokers Note: I have had the pleasure of knowing Roy Davies for many years. He has built several yachts, all of which have been works of art. His designs endure to this day and his craftsmanship and attention to detail is quite literally, unbelievable. He insists that he is "JUST" a CARPENTER" who has built some boats, but Roy is truly humble, and while he is a carpenter (an exceptionally good one) his real talent is in building boats that are considered works of art. Paneka is a Jim Young design, but Roy has reimagined her into what she probably should have been right from the start.
Paneka is unique, and stands out from the crowd, as all Roy's boats do.
She is a MUST view!!
