Tantrum is a rare 42ft French-built carbon fibre performance trimaran that combines genuine offshore racing pedigree with the comfort and fitout of a racer-cruiser.

I get asked a lot WHY BUY A TRIMARAN & WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE SAILING TANTRUM?

My answer is there are plenty of yachts that will take you across an ocean. However, Tantrum offers the opportunity to experience the journey in an entirely different way.

The sports car feeling - as the breeze fills in, you can feel the boat respond. The apparent wind comes forward, the water starts rushing past and Tantrum lifts and accelerates. In conditions where conventional cruising yachts may simply be settling into their stride, Tantrum skips effortless across the water, feeling stable, safe, fun and fast.

Tantrum was built to sail shorthanded across oceans and that's where her design really makes sense. She offers the opportunity to cover serious distances quickly and enjoyably, feeling safe. If you love cruising, a great feature of Tantrum is what happens when you arrive. Drop the sails, find a beautiful anchorage and the character of the boat changes. Her 10 metre beam creates an enormous outdoor platform, with the large nets becoming the perfect place to stretch out, enjoy a drink, read a book or watch the sun disappear over the horizon.

Then head downstairs and she's no longer the stripped-out racing trimaran she once was. The extensive lightweight cruising fitout provides six berths, a carbon galley, refrigerator, bathroom, navigation area and saloon/lounge, with approximately 1.9 m headroom and nearly 3 m internal width in the main cabin.
