Whitehall Westcoast 11.6 Suits new boat buyer

Selling our little used Whitehall Westcoast 11.6 Sailing/Rowing - skull rowing/outboard powered dinghy due as larger boat now required. The Rolls Royce of Dinghy's

Save yourself $15-20k and purchase Hull number 298. It was commissioned in December 2021 and landed here in Australia mid 2022. This highly optioned dinghy is one of a kind here in Australia with only a handful of vessels on our shores. Hand built and imported from Canada.

The Whitehall Spirit® Westcoast 11.6 is known as the "Adult Sailing Dinghy" because theres room for one person seated aft plus one or two people forward and a picnic basket or the family dog forward.

This rowboat handles superbly under sail in both light airs or high winds. The fuller hull shape produces a lift effect when sailing hard on the wind keeping the boat dry and stable. Downwind, the Westcoast 11.6 scoots along and is a joy to be aboard. If the wind dies just drop sails and row home at 3 to 5 knots under oars. Some owners fit the boat with a small outboard motor for fishing. (Yamaha 6hp 4 stroke)

The Westcoast 11.6 is rigged with a 56' mainsail and jib and a removable bowsprit. The complete rig sets up in minutes. The mast simply drops into its socket or stows within the boat. For jib handling there are optional gunnel mounted Jib Jammer Racks. (We Optioned this feature)

The boat floats in only 6" (15cm) of water with the centerboard and rudder fully retracted. This boat can sail in quite shallow water and is very easy to land or launch on a beach.

This boat can be fitted with an optional sliding seat sculling unit. (We optioned this feature)

If you require traditional oars we supply the best available. There is a choice of Spruce/Carbon Traditional Oars with Leather collars and pressure cast oarlocks. (We optioned spruce oars and carbon fibre sweeps)

This Classic Whitehall Spirit® Westcoast 11.6 comes with an impeccable lapstrake fiberglass hull, solid teak woodwork, copper riveted gunnels, custom cast bronze fittings, bilge drain/plug, and a bronze builder's plaque.

The Westcoast 11.6 is right at home on the deck of a yacht, at the cottage, parked on a Dock Bunk or stored on a Boat Dolly or a small boat trailer in the garage. If the boat is stored outside, we recommend adding a Sunbrella cover and Lexan battens to keep it pristine. For tying up to a dock add a set of tie-up lines and fenders to your order. (We optioned the sunbrella cover with lexan battens and then had a fully custom WA made sunbrella boat cover in Perth)

There is a factory option of a Solid Teak Floor or an Ocean Tender Fully Buoyant Floor which adds extra reserve buoyancy to the boat. (We optioned the ocean tender floor) Simply pull the drain plug and the empty boat will self-bail. (We also optioned the Stainless-Steel Keel Strip)

This boat is custom made by our master craftsmen in our shop in Victoria, BC. It's a sailing rowboat built to last 100 years providing sailing and rowing pleasure for generations. It is CE certified and Canadian, and US Coast Guard approved. Built-in buoyancy makes it virtually unsinkable.

This boat has been highly optioned from factory including Davit lift points & bridle system to be used as a yacht tender.

Once landed in Australia, the following was done:

Custom full Sunbrella boat, outboard and spar covers. Underneath of trailer lined for complete hull protection in transport. K1 Marine trimming - Perth. Circa $10k cost.

Yamaha 6hp 4 stroke outboard motor - Long shaft - low hours. Circa $2k cost

Custom outboard motor trailer transport mount. Circa $500 cost

Custom Mainsheet system with Ronstan ratcheting block was made up to make sailing easier on the hands. $450 cost.

Trailer city (Sydney) Jet Ski trailer, adapted to the dinghy. Circa $3k cost
