Beautifully upgraded and maintained by its experienced and qualified owner, 'Bert' presents as a fantastic weekender that's perfect for fishing or sitting back! Featuring extensive upgrades, including a new pod with twin outboards and jacking plates, a modernised and luxurious interior and much more! The Bertram 25 is an extremely popular vessel thanks to its comfortable ride, large volume, enormous cockpit, and relatively impressive amenities. This example further builds on those strengths with its new luxurious finishings, updated electronics, superior power and sea-keeping capabilities, and more.
The cockpit is one of this design's crowning features, further improved by the removal of the original engine bay box and its repower with outboards. Featuring masses of deck space, plenty of sealed storage, and marine carpet, this space is extremely versatile, whether it's cocktails on a sunny afternoon or with the rods and lines cast out.
The saloon area is well laid out and benefits hugely from a set of PVC clears and canvas to enclose the aft end from the cockpit. The galley is wonderfully practical, featuring a 2-burner gas stove, stainless steel sink and enormous storage. To the port side is a large L-shape settee which functions well as a daybed or third berth. Beneath are large custom pull-out storage drawers. The helm sits to starboard and features a Raymarine GPS and sounder, an Uniden VHF overhead, engine controls and four Yamaha digital engine telemetry readouts. This space has been notably modified for the better with additional storage, functionality and comfort. The forward accommodation features a large V-berth with a central in-fill, plus a neat Jabsco manual toilet beneath along the centreline.
The most notable upgrade for this vessel is the addition of an aluminium pod extension to the transom that now sports twin Yamaha 150hp outboards. With its new power plants, Bert cruises comfortably at 23 knots with 440L of fuel and 100L of water. The engines are fitted to twin jacking plates for better performance and to allow the motors to be trimmed completely out of the water when not in use. The engines have been regularly and professionally serviced, while both these units and the jacking plates have been trouble-free.
The flybridge/day-bridge is an excellent additional space, although it does not feature any helm controls; these could be easily added if desired, with excellent access behind the dashboard. This area features a great forward-facing settee and a canvas bimini for when the sun is out, making for an excellent space for children or guests to admire the view. The decks are relatively easy to move around with plenty of stainless-steel handholds along the superstructure. The bow sports a Muir winch, although not a true windlass; it is a great tool when moving from anchorage. A plough anchor with 10m of chain and ample rope means for a good night's sleep and is more than sufficient for a vessel of this size and draft.
Bert has been extensively upgraded and refreshed thanks to its long-standing current ownership, whose shipwright, sailmaking and professional yachting career has benefited the vessel enormously. The addition of its aluminium pod, jacking plates and twin outboards make this vessel more reliable and more usable, while the interior and cockpit have been tweaked and refreshed to create comfortable and luxurious spaces when spending extended periods on board.
