Bolger Micro, G. O. L. D. (15'4"(4.67m) x 6' (1.8m) x 1'8" (0.5m)) is looking for a new Skipper. ATTENTION RAID sailers she is a perfect camper cruiser. The Bolger Micro is also a very capable coastal cruiser. A couple of these boats did a passage from Adelaide to Hobart.
This boat was first launched in 2020, the trailer was built by Ruhle trailers 2018 made bespoke for the boat, at the start of the build. Both are in excellent condition. The trailer is registered in NSW (expires April 2026). At 4.67m G. O. L. D. Does not require N. S. W. Registration.
Designed by Phil Bolger in the period when he was at his best. Anyway, if you are looking at this boat you will already know all about the design. Plenty of information on the internet.
The boat was built by Don Halliwell number 26 out of 27 boats he built. His last boat (number 27) was a Bolger Bird Watcher (junk rigged). Don is a well known boat builder from the Wooden Boat Association of Queensland. The quality of this build is second to none. Don built his boats to last and to be easy to maintain.
Yawl rig, Don designed the boat with a junk mail sail on a free-standing (birds-mouth cut) mast in a tabernacle. The mast is up single handed in 30 seconds with the sail already attached and is super easy to reef, no standing up, all done effortlessly from the cockpit. This boat is designed for easy single handed sailing.
Alternative power is provided by a long shaft 4hp 4 stroke outboard with low hours. These boats were also designed to be rowed.
Her 4 x 40-watt solar panels and deep cycle battery can run a small fridge.
The interior provides an amazing amount of room for a boat of this compact size. I am 6ft 3 Inches (1.9m) and have plenty of room in the berths below. There is ample storage space for provisions for a longer cruise
Ballast is by both cast lead and water, making her capable and safe while still being light to trail (by a small car) Nothing to pump out, the water ballast simply fills the keel when in the water and drains out on the trailer. A brilliant simple system.
She can be easily boarded from shallow water with her transom hung ladder. Plus, she has a pair of beaching legs, so she sits upright when the tide goes out.
The anchor can be raised and lowered from the cockpit another brilliant system designed by Don, she also has a stern anchor setup and ready to deploy.
Air is circulated through the boat by yet another brilliant system, this time a Bolger design. So, at sea or on the trailer air flows and water is kept out.
All sail handling can be done while seated in the cockpit, thanks to the junk rig main and easy access to the mizzen.
Don named her G. O. L. D. Growing Old Living Dangerously.
GOLD is based in Katoomba NSW 1.5 hours west of Sydney. I have been using her on the dams and lakes west of the Great Dividing Range. Used as an overnight camper. She has everything needed for cosy days away from the rat race.
The video's and some images where made by the previous owner.
Why am I selling? I have gone smaller!
