It took me almost 2 years to find this boat, the Cobalt 273 is a premium US manufactured boat and it shows in the detail and quality of construction. Cobalts are dearer but they are better and ultimately that shows in the longevity of the product. Built 2014 and first launched 2015, with a modest 137 hours of use.

At 8.8m or 29 foot, it's a good size boat with loads space giving a great sense of security and safety.

Comparable hull to the Cobalt R8 or A28/9 but the cabin boat is more expensive, replacement price is well over $400,000. The cabin style looks a lot better and the cabin is great to get out of the weather (sun) particularly for little ones. The 273 has twin Bimini's enabling the entire open area to be covered.

With a massive single 8.2 litre Mercruiser Seacore* engine (salt water protected) it is a powerful boat, loads of torque, but has the advantage of less complexity than twin engine boats. Plus it's way more economical to run and service.

* NB:- Seacore treats all engine wetted parts subjected to salt water (cooling system) with a anti-corrosive coating, it's used extensively by US coast guard and means the engines cooling systems last longer, it's an expensive option. The cooling system BTW is closed circuit so it's just like a car engine but uses a separate intercooler as a radiator.

Cruise at an economic 28 knots or 40 knots WOT.
This boat is easy to handle and moor and reacts quickly to throttle inputs, no gear crunching as it's a cone clutch.
The structure of the Kevlar hull ensures a smooth safe ride, yes it's good.

Just serviced 2024, clean bill health, new batteries, water pump plus usual consumables.

Features include, 2 berth cabin, or dinette table, separate ceramic head fully plumbed with basin, fresh water tanks and hoses, separate basin in cockpit and head. Chiller plate integrated under seat, (Refrigerator) multi speaker & woofer CD/DVD TV HI-Fi, VHS radio. CO alarms, bilge alarms, twin bilge pumps.

The Cobalt is towable as the width is 2.6m, so with a multi axle trailer you could go anywhere.
But we do not have a trailer and whilst under our care the Cobalt has been dry stored (out of the water) as can be seen in the photos.

The boat was initially anti fouled but I store it out of the water, fairly straight forward to re apply as the hard work has been done.

The boat is pictured with the AQUA boat lift a fabulous kit, (AUSTRALIAN MADE), requires no power to maintain so its just set and forget, no maintenance no issues. The lift not only makes mooring easy, like driving on a trailer, but easy to get on and off plus easy to clean and fit the covers, it's a tremendous asset.
