OUTBOARD POWERED. Following extensive testing as a single diesel shaft drive and feedback from customers, particularly the offshore fishing - we have now completed the next phase of our development program with the the display boat fitted with twin Mercury Verado 300 hp outboards pod or bracket mounted outboard. This vessel now has a top speed of 38 knots with the Seakeeper installed, quarter fuel and half water.
BOTH VERSIONS ARE AVAILABLE
We utilised an Armstrong Nautical Products bracket for the boat. To see just how good they are see armstrongnautical. Com
A Seakeeper SK3 12 volt DC Stabilizer has been tested and is an option the SK2 may also fit, subject to Seakeeper assessment. The 12 volt versions are for smaller and mid sized vessels.
The MATILDA BAY 32 launched was November 2015 - extensive sea trials have been conducted, including the 400 odd mile run down the coast from Tweed Heads to Sydney in mixed conditions. The boat was transported to Perth for further feedback and development.
The boat performed exceptionally well with a top speed of just over 27 knots with an 370 hp 8LV Yanmar driving through a direct coupled V-drive and shaft. We have evaluated this drive system and decided that future inboard versions will be direct drive with a propeller tunnel for increased performance and reduced draft
The Matilda Bay 32 was well received at Perth International Boat Show September 2017 and also several Sanctuary Cove International Boat Shows and Sydney International Boat Shows.
The Matilda Bay 32 is featured in the safety filmclip at: waweekender. Com. Au episode 32; and reviewed on boatadvice. Com. Au
The vessel attracts lots of attention wherever we go.
Comments received include - that's practical; I can take the whole family out and still go fishing; what a great idea
We chose a proven hull design and with the sea-keeping required by the rugged Western Australian coast the 32 will impress!!
The vessel on display has the optional soft lined forward cabin, Amtico flooring forward and now a carpeted saloon and is a complete turn key boat with GPS/Plotter safety gear and upgraded electrical setup
Our Modular interior allows customisation during the build and alterations to the saloon layout retrospectively
A flybridge version is available
The vessels are constructed to survey standards but not inspected for survey, we can build for survey if required, additional costs will apply.
The inboard prototype Fuel Consumption with the diesel worked out at approx 2 litres per mile @ 19 knots and the vessel achieved a top speed of 27 knots at sea trial, 24.5 knots full fuel and water. We expect slightly better results from future vessels with no keel, direct drive and improved shaft angle. Cruise Speed with the diesel is a respectable 19 -21 knots @ 3350 depending on sea state the outboard vessel is equally impressive with less than 4 litres per mile at a cruise of between 25 to 27 knots
