Ruby Enterprise
This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a well-known 23-metre Northern Prawn Fishery (NPF) trawler. The Ruby Enterprise (formerly Markwell Enterprise) is based in Cairns and is currently licensed to operate in the NPF.
Originally built by BAE Systems in Fremantle, WA in 1973, this vessel has stood the test of time. With a strong track record in the fishery, Ruby Enterprise has operated continuously in the NPF since construction and continues to perform as a successful and reliable prawn trawler.
The vessel is powered by a Caterpillar 3508 - 600hp main engine, coupled with an MG530 Twin Disc gearbox, and is supported by two Cummins 6CTA auxiliary engines, each with 200kVA alternators.
Freezing capacity is a major strength, with two large Gram compressors servicing 2 x 260-carton (6,400kg) aluminium deck snaps. This system allows the vessel to freeze 24-30 tonnes of prawns in a 24-hour period -- a significant advantage during peak fishing.
The main freezer holds 31 tonnes of product, with fuel capacity of 41,000 litres and 7,000 litres of fresh water.
All AMSA 3B Surveys have recently been renewed, and both shaft and hull surveys are valid through to January 2030.
If required, a Northern Prawn Fishery Licence is available for purchase or long-term lease (subject to negotiation).
The Enterprise is fully operational and ready to go fishing with potential for conversion to suit a range of other fisheries such as droplining, trapping, conversion to fish trawling or scampi fishing in New Zealand.
This vessel is truly a bargain and has been priced for a very quick sale!
