Westcoaster 24m Liveabord Charter Vessel

Whale Song II

Launched in 2000 as the tuna longliner "Genesis", this renowned 24m West Coaster hull by Freeman Bay Boats in WA has been intelligently converted into the live-aboard charter and research vessel, Whale Song II. She offers large, open living spaces, a huge galley and what were once the main catch freezers on the aft deck have been transformed into a double ensuite owner's cabin.

With 14 berths and genuinely comfortable living areas and previously in AMSA 2B for 10 passengers plus crew, she could be returned to survey for charter or extended cruising operations. Alternatively, she would make an ideal family cruising vessel.

Key features:
o Cummins KTA 19M3 main engine with a Niigata Series 80 gearbox
o SeaWasp 40kVA genset genset with 2,726hrs
o Yanmar 20kVa secondary genset with 3,697hrs
o 14,000 litres diesel
o 2,000 lites fresh water
o 14 berths in 5 cabins with 3 toilets and 2 showers
o Large double ensuite Owner's cabin in stern
o Capacity to carry two tenders
o Raised viewing tower on roof deck
o Large, open galley and saloon with natural wood bench tops
o Ample dry and cold storage with a 3m³ freezer in stern

A tender can be winched onto a raised cradle on the aft deck using a hydraulic capstan, drawn through double transom doors. There's a viewing tower on the roof deck, along with a gantry and pulley system for lifting a second tender straight onto the roof.

Whale Song II has spent an extended period on the hard stand in Geraldton, during which a range of maintenance and repair works have been progressively completed, including new fire insulation in the engine room, all new house and cranking batteries, shaft removal and survey renewal (since expired). Her Cummins KTA 19M3 main engines are currently undergoing a full top end service, which will be completed prior to sale, with all machinery running and operational at the vendor's expense.

This is a genuine project buy for the right owner: a well-proven hull, a quality conversion, and a clear path back into survey. Offered at a price that reflects the work involved, we have a full scope of remaining works (supplied by the Vendor) available on request.

The vessel must be launched and relocated promptly upon sale as the yard she is in currently is closing. The shipyard has said they will launch her for free and to complete the works required under new ownership, she could be moved across the harbour to the Geraldton Boat Lifters shipyard, or south to Dongara, Jurien Bay or Fremantle.

Available for inspection by appointment only. Please contact Mike at Swan Marine for further information or to arrange an inspection.
