It is refreshing to step aboard a luxury brand that has pioneered a new era of boating - not only through clever layouts but, more importantly, through economy and efficiency. This is where Greenline remains ahead of its time in the powerboat world.
With over 50 Greenlines now delivered in Australia, this 40-foot model arrived new in Western Australia in late 2013. She was likely one of the first lithium-battery-powered boats in the state. While pleasure boats of this size are typically fitted with high-horsepower engines and matching generators, the
Greenline 40 follows the ethos of all Eyachts imported brands: sustainability combined with efficiency.
For those seeking a two-cabin, non-flybridge luxury cruiser with flexible accommodation, the Greenline 40 is a standout. The main living area is on a single level, flowing seamlessly from the helm to the drop-down transom. Large windows provide panoramic views from the saloon, while a hopper-style rear window connects the galley to the aft deck to create a functional breakfast bar. Whether you are inside or on deck, the expansive vistas ensure you are always connected to the water.
A rare feature for a boat of this size is the flexible accommodation; both cabins feature berths that easily convert from twin singles to queen beds. However, the unique qualities of the Greenline extend far beyond the interior.
Under the hood, she is powered by twin VW diesel shaft-drive engines. While uncommon in Australia, these engines are a staple in Europe. The twin 150HP engines propel this remarkably efficient hull to sprint speeds of 17 knots and a comfortable 14-knot cruise. With diesel prices rising, self-funded boat owners are becoming increasingly conscious of fuel burn; the Greenline 40 impresses by slipping through the water effortlessly with such modest engines, remaining remarkably quiet even at full steam.
You can gauge the efficiency of a hull by its displacement, whether navigating the Mandurah canals or cruising off Port Bouvard, she produces very little wash from her bow.
All domestic electrical systems onboard are 240V, yet there is no generator. This eliminates a third engine to service and ensures silent operation--you can boil the kettle or run the coffee machine in the morning without waking the crew. Everything runs via an inverter drawing from a 240Ah lithium storage bank.
The 1,400W factory-fitted solar panels replenish the batteries by day, with the main engines topping them up while underway. Thanks to the lithium technology, charging is exceptionally fast. This energy system is a major advantage for long-range cruising and is easily managed via the included iPad.
Offered at significantly less than half her replacement cost and at half the age of most comparable boats for sale in WA, this vessel represents excellent value for a cutting-edge, two-cabin cruiser.
