Horizon V68 - Proven Kimberley cruiser | Abolsute Luxury

Thinking of cruising the Kimberley or steaming to the Great Barrier Reef? Maybe you have dreams of simply anchoring at a beautiful island like Rottnest and just relaxing and soaking up the ambience. Either way, on 'Sandalera' you can enjoy boating in absolute luxury.

This Horizon Vision 68 (72ft LOA) is a proven long range motor yacht designed and configured with this in mind. Sandalera has completed the journey across the top of Australia many times. In more recent years she has remained closer to home. Her condition is magnificent, in fact it's hard to believe she has ever steamed beyond Rottnest Island.

She was delivered new into Australia for her previous owners in 2008, her silver two pack painted hull setting her apart from the fleet. If you're not familiar with the Horizon range, the Vision Series represented the largest volume boat for her length at her time of launch, she also featured the widest beam compared with other Horizon models. Sandalera is large enough to make "A home away from home".

Living areas and cabins on the three levels are enormous. Space has not been compromised anywhere onboard. Her main deck is open plan and ideal for entertaining and socialising incorporating a lounge, formal dining and galley.

Ahead of the galley, stairs lead you down to the accommodation deck. Her owner chose the three cabin version which enables a full beam master stateroom - that's a massive 6.2m wide! Features also include hull windows, dressing table which could also be used as your office or library, plus a beautifully styled ensuite with his and hers vanity and an opulent shower recess.

To port is a guest cabin with two single berths. This cabin is adjacent to a full size bathroom with vanity, head and large separate shower recess. This also doubles as the Day Head.

The formal guest cabin is up in the forepeak and includes a queen size island berth and a beautifully styled ensuite not dissimilar to that in the owners cabin.
All cabins are fully airconditioned and include TV's.

From the rear cockpit a remodelled stair case provides access to the flybridge, alternatively you can take the stairs from the main saloon directly up into the wheelhouse. If you're at sea, this is a great option and offers additional safety so you don't have to venture outside in foul weather. The wheelhouse itself is large enough to be its own cabin. A leather lounge wraps around what could be either a dining or chart table. This also lowers to create another double bed for overflow accommodation. To starboard in the wheelhouse there is a small powder room, so no need to go all the way down stairs when nature calls.

The helm station is equipped with an extensive array of electronic navigation and communications equipment. A Sonar Depth Sounder is one piece of kit her previous owner says is worth its weight in gold, able to provide an accurate profile of what's lying under the surface up to 500m ahead. Particularly valuable in poorly charted areas.

The skipper has his own leather bucket seat within arms length of the dash. Vision from the bridge is fantastic however a wirelss Yacht Controller enable you to walk around the vessel while maintaining total control from literally any point onboard. This is ideal when berthing in tight quarters or even nudging her bow under Kings Cascade in the Kimberley - absolutely no blind spots!

A TRAC Stabilisation System fitted to Sandalera provides an amazingly comfortable ride, an option which should be high on anyone's list if they are planning a voyage along our coastline.

Sandalera's engine room is accessed via a water tight door from the swim platform or from a hatch on the teak cockpit floor. As you step through this door there is more airconditioned accommodation for crew including ensuite, laundry with Miele appliances, a work bench, loads of storage plus more refrigeration.

Her engine room is immaculate featuring two 1015HP Caterpillar C18's and two 240V Onan gensets. These have been regularly serviced by Caterpillar and in more recent times by Elite Force Marine. In the last twelve months the engines have had a major checkup including cooler servicing.

A hydraulic system runs the Trac stabilisers, bow and stern thrusters plus the windlass. No Mickey Mouse gear here, just heavy duty equipment built for reliability and functionality. An air compressor and Karcher pressure cleaner are also part of the engine room inventory. Access around the engines is pretty good. I 'm a little under six foot tall and there is also plenty of head room.

Sandalera house batteries have just been upgraded to lithium and able to run the ship for eight to ten hours at a time, reducing the need to run the genset all night. This provides enough power to keep the fridges cold and other systems running.

A Brig rigid inflatable tender with 50HP outboard is stored above the cockpit and behind the wheelhouse. A hydraulic davit system is used to effortless launch and retrieval.

With the tender removed, the upper deck transforms into yet another area with bar and electric grills. An extended awning was fitted and umbrellas for additional shade making this deck ideal for entertaining a crowd or just chilling.

There is far more to this ship than meets the eye. Redundancy systems, backups and quality gear throughout have served her well and will continue to provide a brilliant and reliable luxury cruiser for her next owners to enjoy.

* Polished September 2024 with 'Crystilium Clear Coat Pro' - the latest in ceramic protective long lasting coatings
* New more user friendly fibreglass moulded stairway with teak steps from main deck to sky deck
* New teak on the extended swimboard
* New stainless steel folding swim ladder which can be located on port or starboard sides of swimboard
* Fabricated a stainless steel assembly to enable the mast head structure to fold down and enable vessel clearance under Fremantle traffic bridge, also relocation position of Satellite Domes on top of wheelhouse for same purpose.
* New Euro awning with side clears fitted to sky deck, new Euro awning fabricated and fitted to wheelhouse brow.
* Extension awning on top deck attaching to the above awning, with removable stainless steel posts creating an amazing entertaining space

Electrical
o LED light upgrade
o Replaced existing Lead Acid house battery system with latest technology Lithium batteries, 6 x 2.4KW at 48VDC.
o New Victron 5KW Inverter with touch screen monitoring and control, charges the house batteries at 48VDC, supplies vessel at 230VAC
o Main engines alternators upgraded to 190A/48VDC and directly charge house batteries.
* New Main engine batteries & new Victron 50A charger, 24VDC

Engines
* Major 3-year O/H service to engine room equipment carries out Q4 2024,
* Both main engines and both gensets fully serviced,
* Every through hull strainer/valves serviced,
* Every heat exchanger removed and overhauled, noting that the steering and thruster hydraulic HEX (a combines unit) was replaced with a new HEX unit.
* Any lube/hydraulic lines which need replacement were replaced.
* Over $75k in works

Other
* TRAC Stabiliser system - In 2024 underwent a 10-year overhaul/service as per manufacturers recommendation. Seals, other components replaced as recommended, system in as-new operating condition
* Water maker recently removed for detailed service at agents' facilities. Found to be in excellent condition however owner insisted they renew membranes and filters throughout. Re-installed and operates to nameplate performance, 285Lt/hr
* New Yacht Controller - Upgraded to the latest Dual Band unit
* New Karcher Hi-Pressure K4, replaced old unit with the latest moidel larger unit. Freshwater washdown connections fore and aft for ease of boat cleaing
