Classic Timber Vessel - KIEWA (1913) | Fully Rebuilt & Rich in History
Introducing KIEWA, a beautifully restored classic timber vessel originally built in Perth in 1913 by W & S Lawrence for the Commodore of Royal Perth Yacht Club at that time, Dr William Trethowan. With a remarkable history and a meticulous 5 year rebuild completed in 2013, this vessel blends heritage charm with modern capability.
Constructed from premium materials including jarrah keel, stem and sawn frames. Bent frames in karri, Oregon ribs, and NZ Kauri planking. Fastened with roved copper and admiralty bronze. KIEWA is a true example of traditional craftsmanship. During its extensive rebuild, all timbers were replaced where required, fastenings renewed, and the vessel carefully restored to ensure long-term durability.
Powered by a reliable Volvo 4 cylinder diesel, she cruises comfortably at 6-7 knots (approximately 5 litres per hour), offering efficient and economical boating. Measuring 40ft in length with a 10ft beam, KIEWA provides a stable and capable platform for cruising.
A rare opportunity to own a piece of maritime history that has been thoughtfully restored and is ready for its next chapter.
