The Catalina 34 was an incredibly successful for Calalina yachts. Thousands were built and sold worldwide. Revered for its balanced performance and reliability, the C34 has earned a devoted following among cruising sailors. The design is highly regarded for its excellent sailing characteristics, ease of handling, and well-appointed interior layout --a combination that makes it one of the most beloved 34-foot cruisers ever produced.
With its seakindly moderate-displacement hull, the 34 MKII tracks surely and performs confidently across a wide range of conditions. Underway, it delivers a smooth, predictable motion, making passages more enjoyable and less fatiguing on the crew.
The C34 is remarkably easy to sail. With all running rigging led aft, you can manage the boat confidently from the safety and comfort of the cockpit without needing to go forward. Whether handled by a couple or confidently sailed single-handed, the 34 MKII delivers on all accounts.
The cockpit is exceptionally large for a yacht of this size, making the Catalina 34 MKII an absolute pleasure to sail. The extra-long bench seats are perfect for stretching out and relaxing on while sitting off the anchor. The pushpit seats are a stand-out feature and offer a fantastic vantage point whether you're underway or enjoying the view in a quiet bay. This is a real entertainer's cockpit. Panacea was optioned with a fold-away cockpit table that opens up the space when it is not needed.
Another thoughtful and practical design feature is the extra-wide, deep folding swim ladder. It makes getting back onboard after a swim exceptionally easy and provides a sturdy surface for steadying the dinghy while boarding the yacht.
Step down below on the C34 and you will discover an interior that has been very well designed and appointed for liveaboard cruising.
The L-shaped galley is a generous size and features some very practical storage options. The waste bin is conveniently accessed through the benchtop right next to the sink. The twin stainless-steel sinks are positioned near the centreline to ensure proper drainage while underway. The top-loading refrigerator is large and well-insulated for energy-efficient operation. The Corian benchtops add a touch of class and are durable and easy to maintain.
The saloon has a comfortable and practical layout, suitable for relaxing both at anchor and underway. The table can be lowered, and with an infill cushion, it converts into a day bed or double berth for additional guests. The settees on either side provide secure sea berths, an essential feature while underway on passages.
The accommodation is another stand out feature on the C34 and is rather outstanding for a yacht of this size. The forward owner's cabin features a huge double bed, at its widest point is the equivalent width of a king-size bed. A large hatch above the bed, along with opening portholes on either side, provides excellent ventilation.
The aft cabin features a spacious athwartships double bed. This is a great option in a rough anchorage, as sleeping sideways across the boat significantly reduces body rolling and is generally the most comfortable orientation. Two hatches open into the cockpit for additional airflow, and an extra porthole provides light and ocean glimpses.
The bathroom is also very spacious for a yacht of this size. Shower curtains come as standard and help to keep the head dry, and there is a seat for when things get a little rocky. A Corian benchtop with a seamless, one-piece moulded sink, offers a sleek finish that's easy to clean and maintain.
Panacea is powered with a reliable Universal diesel engine with only 667 hours on the clock.
When you consider the large and expensive ticket items, Panacea ticks all of the boxes. The standing rigging was recently replaced in November 2025. The Hyde sails are only seven years old, are in great condition, and have many seasons of sailing ahead of them. The engine presents like new and has very low hours.
Panacea is the shoal draft version and only draws 1.3m. Perfect for Geographe Bay, Parker Point at Rottnest, or the Swan River. She also has a hinged mast that can be lowered.
Catalina yachts are well sort after and do not sit on the market for very long. So don't delay, pick up the phone and book an inspection now, before she is gone.
