Jeanneau Sun Fast 3200

The Sun Fast 3200 has continued to be a highly competitive racing yacht and this this example is no exception. Under its current ownership racing out of Newcastle Yacht Club it has achieved considerable success winning the summer point score Div 2 in 2024 and Div 1 winter point score, as well as winning Div 3 at Sail Port Stephens this year. Under previous ownership it won the Rudder Cup, one of the oldest trophies in yacht racing in the World for the Melbourne to Devonport Race which it won overall racing Double Handed. It also started a Hobart Race 3 years ago and was at the front of the double-handed division when it had to retire due to a fuel starvation problem that meant that they couldn't charge the batteries.

Ahead of that Hobart it had a major overhaul in 2022 including the keel being removed and refitted, and the rudders being dropped and serviced including new boots. The rigging was replaced in 2019, and the rig had a significant overhaul at that time including reinforcement of the spreader bases. The stainless-steel bowsprit was replaced with a longer custom made one to the same design to better project Asymmetric spinnakers.

Despite being a serious racing yacht, the 3200 has a surprisingly level of comfort and in fact I've spent a weekend away on this particular yacht when it was new and thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a hot water service and 12v fridge, the aft cabins are full sized doubles, it has a proper 2-burner stove with oven, and the forward compartment has a privacy sliding door where the head is and shower faucet.

It's been really well maintained and was antifouled and engine serviced ready for the season in July, has a J1 headsail and A2 spinnaker, and a new boom awning and other covers were fitted last year.

So, whether club/twilight racing, or joining the growing double-handed racing scene this yacht should be on your short list. Contact PBS now for further details.
