The Sun Odyssey 440 offers supreme comfort for a couple with guest accommodation in a multi award winning design. This example has been enjoyed for weekends away and social racing and has all the best options for both to offer a very complete and superbly maintained yacht that will not disappoint.

From a cruising point of view this yacht has the 3-cabin twin head layout, all cabins with fully rectangular beds and both heads with showers and electric toilets. There are only four shallow steps from the cockpit to the saloon, and then all floors are on one level with full height cabin doors for ease of movement around the yacht. The owners cabin is forward with a full Queen sized double, aircraft style blinds to hull windows that allow you to take in your surrounding while sitting up in bed should you choose.

To port from the companionway there is a full sized nav table which could make an ideal work desk. Forward of this is a U-shaped galley with lots of counter space and stowage and a domestic style fridge. There is also an additional 110 Litre fridge/freezer in the aft port cabin. Opposite the galley there is the dinette aft of which is the day head and then aft starboard guest cabin.

Power onboard is from 4 x 125A house batteries fed either by shore-power, or 260 Watts of solar which is Bimini mounted. There is an 1800 Watt Xantec inverter providing 240 volts to power points throughout the interior. A battery monitor allows easy management of power onboard. For entertainment there is a Fusion stereo with subwoofer, an Ocean 45 Sat TV and 27" Smart TV.

Instrumentation is Raymarine with Axiom 9" MFD/Plotters at each helm as well as a 7" at the nav table. There is an I70 Multi aft of the cockpit table and two mast displays. There is an AIS700 transceiver, hydraulic drive autopilot, and Ray 50 VHF.

The swim platform is electric with remotes that allow you to lower it as you approach in your tender. On the transom there is a Hot & Cold shower and BBQ bayonet fitting and there are three cockpit lockers plus a good-sized bow locker. A retractable bow-thruster and electric halyard winch make life easier for manoeuvres and sail handling.

The sail inventory encompasses a CDX Pro fully battened mainsail on cars with lazy-jacks and boom bag, a 122% Dacron furling genoa, 100% North's NPL jib and Gennaker. There is a Carbon whisker pole on track, and Carbonautica wheels for a sporty feel. There are multiple upgrades of running rigging including mainsheet strops and furling lines, it had a rig check in February, and the winches have just been serviced. Antifouling and engine service were done in December.

This is a very well optioned and superbly maintained cruising yacht which is very stiff and well balanced. The patented walk-around decks make movement from the cockpit safe and easy, whether to board from the side of the yacht where there are lifeline gates and a removable stainless ladder, or for going to the foredeck.
