Cat Ballou is the ideal Moreton Bay boat. Not only is she easy on the eye. She is easy to sail with all sheets hand managed. (no winches) Most importantly for care free sailing, she draws less than half a metre board up and can sail right up the beach with her flat bottom (no mooring 300 metres off the shore, no tender required) and easy sailing in shallows across shoaling ground.
She has 850KG of lead ballast and heels on a chine extending the water line length. She is 2 ton displacement so has enough weight to punch through the short Moreton bay chop. Comfortably sails at above 5 knots ( in 10- 15 knots ) and max 7knots down wind.
She has no standing rigging (reducing maintenance )with two Oregon masts and a gaff rigged set up. Masts are fully re-finished clear. Looks classic.
Cat Ballou has had a full deck refit. Removed all cleats and fixings, removed all rot and been fully professionally re sprayed above the waterline and on deck.
Her 14HP Nanni diesel drives a sail drive and has been serviced and runs a treat ( recent service - Shaft seals, anode, heat exchanger, oil ( gear box and engine) filters, Fuel lines)
Sails - Gaff rigged, Main and Fore sail (Working Condition), New Reaching Jib - near new (runs between Mast)
Sleeps two - Three at a squeeze. Small seating space inside adequate to get out of the rain.
Maintenance is low cost. Just Beach and brush down hull below water line. She can be transported on a flat bed trailer or standrad truck due to sharpie hull.
