Designed by renowned Australian multihull designer Roger Simpson and professionally built in South-East Queensland by Peter Snell, Whirlpool is a proven and capable cruising platform. She is strong, stable, and confidence-inspiring, with a reputation for handling comfortably in up to 30-knot conditions. Built in Landsborough, Queensland, she was constructed to exacting standards and is well suited to both coastal and offshore cruising.
The current owners first cruised north in 2022, confirming Whirlpool's capability for extended passages and life aboard. Since that time, further upgrades have been completed to enhance off-grid independence and overall liveability, ensuring she remains current, reliable, and exceptionally well equipped.
Whirlpool features a practical and comfortable multi-cabin layout suitable for couples, families, or extended cruising. Accommodation includes an owner's cabin with a double berth offering access on three sides, a guest cabin with a double berth and additional single, and a further aft cabin with a three-quarter berth. The interior is light, well ventilated, and welcoming, with a warm, functional feel throughout.
The saloon is open and inviting, providing comfortable seating, excellent visibility, and seamless connection to the cockpit. A well-appointed galley-down configuration to port is designed for extended cruising, offering generous bench space, storage, and comprehensive cooking facilities. A substantial solar array combined with lithium battery storage and a high-capacity inverter allows the vessel to comfortably support multiple refrigeration units, air conditioning to the saloon, washing machine, entertainment systems, and everyday domestic requirements. A portable generator provides further redundancy, while a high-output water maker and generous freshwater capacity allow for extended stays at anchor without compromise.
Externally, Whirlpool offers outstanding deck space and outdoor living areas. The cockpit is enclosed on three sides, making it ideal for tropical and wet-weather cruising while still allowing excellent airflow when required. Expansive forward trampolines provide additional relaxation space, while the large solar array structure extends over the transom and davits, creating significant shade. Whirlpool is powered by twin Nanni diesel engines with sail drives, installed new in May 2024 and showing approximately 500 hours. Navigation and electronics include a chart plotter with AIS and radar, external GPS antenna, wind, depth, and boat speed instruments, and dual depth sounders fitted to both hulls.
