This lovely vessel has a colourful history. She's lapped the globe no less than one and half times and continues to make serious miles every year. The vessel has benefitted from always having been in the hands of dedicated, knowledgeable and inspired cruising people and the current owners have taken her to the bottom of Tasmania to Port Davey no less than 4 times. And she's ready to go again.
The design is renowned for its safety and comfort and suitability for long passage making. It's a world-class vessel due to it's design and build quality and highly respected amongst the cruising franternity.
The Sharki features a very secure cockpit where all weather conditions can be endured without doning wet-weather gear and where excellent visability is achieved in a protected envirnoment. The layout and systems have practicality as the formost feature in the design criteria making maintenance and upkeep a charm. No external wood means no more time spent with varnish cans and hours spent on cosmetics.
The interior is warm and inviting and features an aft double and forward double. It has a thoughful layout and very generous storage space and tankage.
The moulded keel and single skin GRP hull as well as strong skeg hung rudder means longevity and integrity over years of use. Every facet of the boat is built with this in mind and the term robust comes to mind.
The ketch rig, and furling mainsail and headsail make sail handling manageable and light. The rigging was replaced and is current for insurance purposes.
The sail wardrobe includes a near new furling headsail and excellent mainsail and mizzen as well as assorted sails for all conditions.
An excellent maintenance history shows a steady injection of funds when and where needed. New anchor chain, recent gas compliance certificate, current rigging, skin fittings and seacocks all replaced, new deck paint, new house batteries, new engine control Morse cables are just some of the upgrades.
